Cats

As any cat owner, I believe I have the best little hellions on the planet. So of course I'm gonna put them on the internet.

Bella

Bella is my first cat who is unfortunately no longer with us. She was very mean and gave me many bites, scratches, and scars, but that never stopped me from loving her. It makes me sad to see how little pictures I have of her, I really wish had taken more while she was with us since it didn't last all that long.

Lacy

Lacy is the first of my current two cats. She loves attention on her own terms and will dodge your hand if you try to touch her otherwise. She loves to beg me to watch her eat and also for someone to turn on the sink so she can drink from it. Sometimes she wanders around the house with a stuffed bunny in her mouth that we call her "baby" because she picks it up where the scruff would be. She also loves to bully poor Holly.

Holly

Holly is the second of my current two cats. She's playful and I'm her chosen person, so she's always after my attention and sleeping with me or somewhere nearby. She usually spends her days staring out the window at the local wildlife or sleeping on or under my bed. Holly is very vocal and will quite literally scream at me if I don't give her attention the moment she wants it, but I love her for that.

Online I go by Butter Cat or just Cat. I'm a tech nerd who enjoys self hosting, playing games, listening to music, and messing with computers.

I've been interested in technology since I was a kid and started to get some formal knowledge on it in highschool by going to a trade school. I'm currently going to college for a computer science degree and I'm hoping to graduate in the Fall semester of 2026.

Self hosting became a hobby of mine sometime around 2018. I originally started off hosting simple tools like Pi-hole, random dashboards, and monitoring tools like Grafana on a Raspberry Pi 4. In May of 2021 I retrofitted an old desktop to host on instead as the Pi was too getting too slow, and 6 months later I got a proper rack and bought a refurbished HP ProLiant DL360p Gen8 server to put in it.

At some point I began internally hosting frontends like Nitter and the now rebranded libreddit because I felt the existing public instances were too slow. In 2023 I began making these services public as a way to give back to their creators as I couldn't code to fix bugs or add features. On October 15th, 2025 all of my public services finally made their way out of my house and onto a VPS. As much as I enjoyed having it local, my upload speed at home was just far too slow.

Hosting all of these things has taught me quite a lot about networking, the internet, web development, and even coding as I began attempting to contribute to some of these projects. I still mainly host for fun and as a way to keep learning, but another strong driving force is just the ability to give privacy to people by allowing them use the things I host.

I'd say my favorite music artists are Ivycomb and Get Scared (writing this is how I found out Get Scared is back together, I'm so excited).
